2021
The beginning of a project

Torneig Nord began its journey in September 2021 in the Alt Empordà (Figueres, Castelló and Peralada), where during the first two weekends it became the epicenter of youth basketball in the region.
With the aim of becoming a benchmark tournament in Catalonia, we made a strong commitment to youth basketball, with a total of 40 registered teams and more than 400 players who had the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience.
Despite the pandemic conditions, which required managing a complex environment and organization, the tournament was a success in terms of participation, clubs, fans, and impact on the territory. Above all, it was a success because of the unforgettable experiences of everyone who lived it.
2022
The tournament grows

For its second edition, Torneig Nord added the girls’ mini category. In total, four categories: boys’ and girls’ mini, and boys’ and girls’ U14.
Teams that took part in the tournament wanted to come back, a clear sign of the range of experiences that coming to the Empordà offers.
In addition, Llançà joined as a tournament venue, further expanding basketball across the area.
Clubs and teams such as Barça, Penya, Valencia Basket, Mataró, Bayern Munich, Bàsquet Girona, Manresa and JAC Sants took part, along with international teams and prestigious academies such as Darazsak Sportakadémia (Hungary), Travel Team and Next Hoops, among others.
Local teams were also present, including Adepaf, UCAP and Grifeu, who may have faced—perhaps for the only time in their lives—boys and girls they might one day watch on television.
2023
The tournament becomes a benchmark

The third edition of Torneig Nord reinforced its educational and developmental focus for boys and girls and consolidated its position as a national pre-season benchmark.
The teams were top-level, with many youth squads from clubs competing in the highest national leagues in their countries. Figueres, Castelló d’Empúries, Llançà and Peralada enjoyed two magical weekends.
Some players took part in the tournament for the second time, a sign that the formula works and that clubs have already marked the tournament in their calendars
Participation reached a record high, with nearly 800 people including players and coaching staff. The involvement of institutions and companies was also the strongest to date. A mobile app was introduced to follow matches live and check statistics, and the finals were broadcast on La Xarxa.
2024
A strong commitment to growth

After three editions, Torneig Nord is one of the leading tournaments at national level, which is why teams from across Europe and the world are interested in taking part.
Rather than slowing down, the tournament aimed to make its fourth edition even stronger—by improving the level of participating teams, enhancing overall logistics to make everything more comfortable for players, increasing the added value of the experience, and offering more attractions for families.
The foundations are in place, and now it is time to complement them with small details that strengthen the tournament’s positioning without losing the essence that defines it. We want basketball to keep beating in the Empordà for many years to come, and that is why…
2025
Five years of Torneig Nord

The fifth edition of Torneig Nord was held exclusively in the mini category, as the official calendar for the U14 category made it impossible to find a suitable date.
Far from being a step backward, the mini-only edition was a success and was lived very intensely, with 16 teams per category. A single weekend between Figueres and Peralada, where we enjoyed the magic of small-sided basketball.
Future
Torneig Nord is no longer just a tournament: it is a meeting point, a shared experience, and a space where youth basketball grows year after year. The journey so far has allowed us to learn, improve, and consolidate a way of doing things that puts boys and girls at the center, while never losing sight of the territory that hosts us and helps us grow.
From now on, the challenge is to keep evolving without losing our essence. To continue offering a high-quality sporting and human experience, to open ourselves to new teams and realities, and to keep making Torneig Nord a place where memories, values, and the future are built. Because every edition is a new opportunity to grow—and the best is still yet to come.
